چکیده

We present the data reduction pipeline for the Herschel Infrared Galactic Plane survey (HiGAL). Hi-GAL is a key project of the Herschel satellite, which is mapping the inner part of the Galactic plane (|l| ≤ 70◦ and |b| ≤ 1◦), using two Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS) and three Spectral and Photometric Imaging Receiver (SPIRE) frequency bands, from 70 to 500 μm. Our pipeline relies only partially on the Herschel Interactive Processing Environment (HIPE). It features several newly developed routines to perform data reduction, including accurate data culling, noise estimation and minimum variance mapmaking, the latter performed with the ROMAGAL algorithm, a deep modification of the ROMA code already tested on cosmological surveys. We discuss in depth the properties of the Hi-GAL science demonstration phase data.

Hi-GAL, the Herschel infrared Galactic Plane Survey: photometric maps and compact source catalogues - First data release for the inner Milky Way: +68° ≥ l ≥ −70°

Aims. We present the first public release of high-quality data products (DR1) from Hi-GAL, the Herschel infrared Galactic Plane Survey. Hi-GAL is the keystone of a suite of continuum Galactic plane surveys from the near-IR to the radio and covers five wavebands at 70, 160, 250, 350 and 500 μm, encompassing the peak of the spectral energy distribution of cold dust for 8 <∼ T <∼ 50 K. This first ...

On the shape of the mass-function of dense clumps in the Hi-GAL fields I. SED determination and global properties of the mass-functions

Context. Stars form in dense, dusty clumps of molecular clouds, but little is known about their origin and evolution. In particular, the relationship between the mass distribution of these clumps (also known as the “clump mass function”, or CMF) and the stellar initial mass function (IMF), is still poorly understood. Aims. In order to discern the “true” shape of the CMF and to better understand...

Clouds, filaments, and protostars: The Herschel Hi-GAL Milky Way *

We present the first results from the science demonstration phase for the Hi-GAL survey, the Herschel key-project that will map the inner Galactic Plane of the Milky Way in 5 bands. We outline our data reduction strategy and present some science highlights on the two observed 2◦ x 2◦ tiles approximately centered at l=30◦ and l=59◦. The two regions are extremely rich in intense and highly struct...

A Hi - GAL study of the high - mass star - forming region G 29 . 96 − 0 . 02

Context. G29.96−0.02 is a high-mass star-forming cloud observed at 70, 160, 250, 350, and 500 μm as part of the Herschel survey of the Galactic Plane (Hi-GAL) during the Science Demonstration Phase. Aims. We wish to conduct a far-infrared study of the sources associated with this star-forming region by estimating their physical properties and evolutionary stage, and investigating the clump mass...

HiCUP: pipeline for mapping and processing Hi-C data

HiCUP is a pipeline for processing sequence data generated by Hi-C and Capture Hi-C (CHi-C) experiments, which are techniques used to investigate three-dimensional genomic organisation. The pipeline maps data to a specified reference genome and removes artefacts that would otherwise hinder subsequent analysis. HiCUP also produces an easy-to-interpret yet detailed quality control (QC) report tha...
